Today we take a closer look at “the Panda”, a Richard Mille woman´s tourbillon watch. For those of you not familiar with the brand, Richard Mille is one of the pioneer watch manufacturers in cross combining new materials, high-tech innovations and shapes and figurations into his watch models. He makes it a challenge to include never before used materials from aerospace, yachting and formula 1 in the creation of new timepieces. The brand´s iconic tonneau-shaped case has become a symbol of power and wealth. Today´s watch is no exception.
“The Panda´s” case is set with diamonds, both on top, on the sides and of course on the crown. The beautiful diamonds make up a window to the partly transparent (skeleton) dial. The dial exposes the movement and a bamboo cage with a black and white-diamond set Panda who ultimately gave the watch its´ nickname. This watch is a beautiful creation, it is as impressive as it is expensive.
The RM 26-01 is a manual winding tourbillon movement displaying hours, minutes and power reserve. Fully wound the watch keeps ticking for 48 hours (+/- 10% according to Richard Mille). The power reserve is displayed between 10 and 11 o’clock. The baseplate of the watch is unlike most others: this model has a baseplate made out of black onyx – a variety of cryptocrystalline quartz. The brand says this charm-stone against spells will deflect harmful energy from the wrist down to earth. At the same time onyx symbolizes equilibrium and inspiration. Measuring 12.30 mm tall, 39.70 mm wide and 48 mm long this is a big, eye-catching woman’s watch. If you are willing to spend 700 000 $ this watch can be yours.
